| This is a newly
manufactured 12V CDI unit, made to replace the Bosch 0227 200 001 3-Pin
CDI units that came in Porsche 911s made from '69 to '77.
We've sold many hundreds of CDI units for motorcycles in the last five
years, and have enjoyed an extremely low failure rate. Now we've
extended the technology we developed to the Porsche 911.
Internally, this CDI unit is all
new, developed by us, and like all our products, it's manufactured in
our shop in North Carolina. The
electronic components were chosen for ruggedness and long life. Anti-bounce circuitry is built in, to prevent false
triggering from points bounce, enabling this unit to fire cleanly to
over 9,000 RPM even if the points are in less than perfect
condition. The housing is cast aluminum with a neat, brushed finish. The mounting plate is laser cut from brushed 304 stainless steel, and the unit fits perfectly in the original location. The circuit is sealed in high quality epoxy potting compound for protection from moisture and vibration, eliminating the corrosion damage that's common inside the original units. We designed a 3-pin connector that mates with the connector on the original wiring harness, and 3-D print it in-house, eliminating expensive custom molding charges, so we could keep the price reasonable. We will repair or replace this unit, or refund the purchase price, at our option, if it fails to perform properly as a result of defects in materials or workmanship, within five years of the date of purchase. |
